Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/May 20 : To express gratitude to the Indian Army for the success of Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, a Tiranga Yatra (Tricolor March) was organized in Hoshiarpur through the efforts of various religious and social organizations, under the leadership of the National Civil Safety Forum.
The yatra was led by prominent saints of the city and ex-servicemen. At the front of the procession, women proudly held the Indian tricolor in their hands and raised slogans such as “Long Live the Indian Army” and “Long Live Operation Sindoor.” They were followed by youth and elders, all immersed in patriotic spirit, chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” with enthusiasm.
The event commenced with citizens paying floral tributes at the local martyr memorial. The procession then moved through the main markets of the city, ending at Ghanta Ghar Chowk, turning the entire city into a vibrant display of patriotism.
Saints from various religious bodies, including Sant Satyavrat Maharaj (National Media Head of Juna Akhara), Sadhvi Shankarpreeta Bharti Ji and Sadhvi Anjali Bharti Ji from Divya Jyoti Sansthan, Baba Ravindra Nath, and Omkar Nath, blessed the event and remained present throughout the yatra.
Forum convener Major Yashpal Singh, along with Major Prabhat Minhas, Colonel Malook Singh, Colonel Dharamjit Patial, and Captain Ramesh Chandra Thakur joined the yatra with their families, enhancing its grandeur.
Notable dignitaries present included Union Minister of State Som Parkash with his wife Anita Som Parkash, former MP Avinash Rai Khanna, BJP State Secretary Meenu Sethi, former Punjab ministers Sohan Singh Thandal and Ashwani Sekhri, District Bar Association President Advocate Ghumman, and Ashok Chopra and Bharat Gandotra from the RSS.
At the conclusion of the yatra, Nipun Sharma expressed gratitude to all the participating organizations for making the event a success. He highlighted that on April 22, 2025, Indian tourists were targeted by terrorists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, an incident that sparked a nationwide outcry. In response, on the night of May 6 and morning of May 7, the Indian Army launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, demolishing terror infrastructure in Pakistan and POK, showcasing India’s military strength.
Expressing appreciation for the success of the operation, he said Tiranga Yatras are being held across the country to honor the Indian Army’s courage and valor. He added that the brutal killing of innocent tourists and the sorrow caused to countless families called for a strong response—which the Indian Army delivered with full backing from the central Modi government. Prime Minister Modi had reportedly given the Army full freedom to choose the time and place of retaliation, promising full government support at every step.
