MLA made a special appearance in the awareness programme organised in ward 38
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 4 : Under the de-addiction campaign being run by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, an awareness programme was organised in ward number 38 of Hoshiarpur today. Local MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa specially attended this programme and made the people present aware about the ill-effects of drugs.
Addressing the programme, MLA Jimpa said that drug abuse is pushing the future of the youth into darkness. The Punjab government has launched a war against drug abuse and efforts are being made at every level to root out this evil. He said that drug abuse not only weakens a person mentally and physically, but also breaks the family and society.
The MLA called upon the people to be a part of this campaign and keep their children away from drugs. He said that this evil can be eradicated not only by administrative action but also by social awareness and collective efforts. He said that a special task force has been formed by the government which is taking strict action against drug smugglers.
During the program, various social organizations also participated and gave the message through anti-drug posters, banners and slogans. The street play presented by children and youth deeply impressed the people.
On this occasion, apart from Mayor Surinder Kumar, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, Councilor Pradeep Bittu, eminent citizens of the area, social workers and a large number of common people were present. Everyone appreciated this effort and pledged that they will make their locality and society drug-free.
