Women’s Safety Top Priority

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Jan.4 : District Planning Committee Chairperson for Hoshiarpur, Karmjeet Kaur, stated that the Punjab government is fully committed to women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment. She noted that through One Stop Centres operating across the state, free assistance has been provided to 5,121 women victims of violence up to November, reflecting the government’s sensitive and effective approach.Kaur emphasized that under the leadership of Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, the state government is ensuring that violence-affected women receive all essential services—medical aid, legal counseling, psychological support, and temporary shelter—under one roof. This provides victims with swift justice and security.She added that One Stop Centres are not just aid hubs but play a crucial role in women’s rehabilitation and self-reliance. The government is making continuous efforts to strengthen and enhance these centres, enabling every affected woman to lead a dignified life.At the district level, the administration is ensuring that information about One Stop Centres reaches as many women as possible, allowing those in need to seek help without fear. Kaur appealed to society to unite against all forms of violence towards women, fostering a safer and empowered community.
