Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/August 05 : The grand opening ceremony of the 33rd Regional Level Athletics Meet was held on 5th August 2025 at PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Phalahi, District Hoshiarpur. The event marked the commencement of the 23rd Regional Level Athletic Meet, showcasing the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among young athletes from the North Zone.
The meet was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Lalita Arora, District Education Officer, Hoshiarpur, who addressed the enthusiastic gathering of students, staff, and dignitaries with inspiring words. In her speech, she encouraged the students to participate with integrity, discipline, and team spirit, and highlighted the significance of sports in holistic education and personality development.
The occasion was further graced by the presence of Mr. S.K. Pombra, Ex-Head, CSR, Sonalika International Tractors Ltd., Mrs. Mridula Sharma, Principal, GSSS Phalahi, and Mrs. Lakhbir Kaur, Sarpanch, Village Phalahi, who attended the event as Guests of Honour. Their presence added prestige and encouragement to the young athletes.
Mrs. Ranju Duggal, the Principal of the host school, warmly welcomed all the distinguished guests, participants, and officials. She extended her gratitude to the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti for selecting the school as the venue for this prestigious event and expressed confidence in the smooth conduct of the athletic meet.
This year’s meet brings together participants from four clusters — PB-1 & PB-2 (Punjab), JK-1 & JK-2 (Jammu & Kashmir), and HP (Himachal Pradesh) — with a total of 212 athletes (comprising 115 boys and 97 girls) ready to showcase their talents in various track and field events over the coming days.
Also present at the ceremony were Vice Principal Santosh Negi, all teaching and non-teaching staff members of the host school, escorts and coaches from the participating clusters, and an enthusiastic gathering of students who welcomed the athletes with cultural performances and cheers.
The event promises healthy competition, mutual learning, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
