Hoshiarpur/ July 23/ Daljeet Ajnoha : Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar emphasized the need for joint and effective efforts to combat drug abuse while addressing a meeting with officials from various departments at the District Administrative Complex.
During the review meeting of Punjab Government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign and initiatives under the Narco Coordination (NCORD) mechanism, she called for greater public awareness, proper rehabilitation for drug-affected individuals, and the implementation of a mass public movement against drug addiction.
She stressed that people must be made aware and encouraged to admit addicts to district de-addiction and rehabilitation centres and other related facilities for proper treatment and reintegration into society. She also suggested that with the support of various organizations in both villages and urban areas, the campaign should be transformed into a people-driven movement.
Bhullar obtained updates from officials of the Health and Police Departments regarding the ongoing anti-drug initiatives in the district. She directed all concerned departments to make focused and impactful interventions at their respective levels to protect the younger generation from the clutches of addiction and to channel their vast energy in a constructive direction.
SP Major Singh and other senior officials from various departments were also present at the meeting.
