Deputy Commissioner holds meeting with Revenue Department officials, advocates, and deed writers
Says corruption will be curbed, citizens to get doorstep delivery of services
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/August 8 :Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has introduced the Easy Registry System (facility for land and property registration) with the aim of providing citizens with transparent, simple, and speedy services. A meeting regarding this initiative was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain with officials from the Revenue Department, advocates, and deed writers.
The Deputy Commissioner described the initiative as a revolutionary step in Punjab’s administrative history that will not only help curb corruption but also save people from making unnecessary visits to government offices. She explained that citizens will no longer be dependent solely on their local sub-registrar office for property registration; instead, they will be able to complete their work at any sub-registrar office in the district.
Under the new system, citizens will receive all information related to registration — such as document submission, approval, fee payment, and time slot confirmation — directly via WhatsApp and the online portal. This will ensure doorstep delivery of services and complete transparency in the process.
Jain added that even those who are not comfortable using digital tools will be able to avail the service through service centers. By calling the toll-free number 1076, citizens can book an appointment, after which a service assistant will visit their home at the scheduled date and time to complete the deed registration for a fixed fee. With the cooperation of banks, payments will be processed quickly, securely, and in a recorded manner, saving time and eliminating the scope for bribery or cash transactions.
She emphasized that the fully digital and recorded process will effectively curb corruption. Officials were directed not to delay work without reason, ensuring that citizens receive services in a single visit.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner urged deed writers to actively cooperate in making the system a success and also sought their feedback. She stated that public satisfaction and convenience would be the true measure of the scheme’s success. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarbir Kaur, Assistant Commissioner Oaishi Mandal, District Revenue Officer Amandeep Chawla, DSM Charan Kanwal, along with other officials and deed writers, were present on the occasion.
