Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain reviewed preparations for the upcoming Census 2026-27 during a key district-level meeting held today. The meeting, attended by ADC Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Deputy ESA Sunita Paul, ARO Pavneet Kaur, and other officials, focused on ensuring smooth execution of the census process.The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the directions recently issued by Punjab Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha and stressed the need to finalize administrative boundaries of towns and villages by December 31, 2025. She assigned responsibilities to different officers, with the ADC tasked with reviewing urban reports and SDMs with verifying rural boundaries.Calling the census a task of national importance, Jain urged all departments to fulfill their duties within stipulated timelines. She also instructed that the functioning of the dedicated Census Cell be made more proactive so that every activity could be completed as per the official calendar.
