Preparatory Meeting for Census 2027 Held;

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha /Oct 13– A crucial preparatory meeting for Census 2027 was held today in Hoshiarpur under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain. The meeting was conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India and saw the participation of Swadesh Pratap Singh, Assistant Director from the Census Department, Chandigarh, and District In-charge Ankit.During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the recently issued circulars concerning jurisdictional framework, rural-urban classification, peripheral development areas, urban agglomerations, and updating of base maps. Officials from the Census Department emphasised that accurate and timely updates to these aspects are essential for the success of Census 2027.Deputy Commissioner Jain instructed officials to re-examine reports submitted by Tehsildars in rural areas and municipal councils/municipal committees in urban areas. She directed that necessary corrections be made and revised reports be sent to the Census Office without delay. Stressing the importance of precision and adherence to deadlines, she urged officials to complete the work with utmost seriousness and accuracy to avoid any disruption in the census process.“Census forms the foundation for the nation’s policies and development plans. Therefore, all officials must treat it as a top priority and carry out their responsibilities with full commitment,” she added.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur, SDM Tanda Parmpreet Singh, SDM Garhshankar Sanjeev Kumar, District Statistical Officer Sunita Bhopal, Tehsildars, Executive Officers of municipal councils/municipal committees, and officials from various departments.
