Polling on December 14 from 8 am to 4 pm, tight security arrangements
*Hoshiarpur, Dec.12/Daljeet Ajnoha : Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain stated that the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti general elections-2025 are being held as per the schedule issued by the State Election Commission, Punjab. The Hoshiarpur district administration has completed all necessary preparations to conduct these elections in a peaceful, transparent, and well-organized manner.She informed that 80 candidates are contesting for 25 zones of the Zila Parishad, while out of 208 seats in the Panchayat Samiti, consensus has been reached in 17 zones, and 582 candidates are in the fray for the remaining 191 zones. A total of 1,683 polling booths have been set up across the district, with a five-member polling party deployed at each booth.The District Election Officer explained that each voter will receive two ballot papers during polling: a yellow one for Zila Parishad candidates and a white one for Panchayat Samiti candidates, to be dropped into separate ballot boxes available at the booths. To ensure a smooth and secure voting process, the police administration has made foolproof security arrangements so that voters can cast their votes fearlessly. She announced that polling will take place from 8 am to 4 pm and appealed to all voters to reach their polling stations within the stipulated time to exercise their franchise.Ashika Jain added that counting of votes will be held on December 17, 2025, for which counting centres have been established in all 10 blocks of the district and the counting staff deployment has been completed. She emphasized that the district administration and police department are committed to conducting the election process peacefully, fairly, and systematically, with excellent coordination among all departments.
