Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Jan.30 : In line with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines, a grand awareness programme under the ‘Meri Vote, Mera Bharat’ campaign was organised at Government College, Hoshiarpur, as part of the SVEEP initiative in Assembly Constituency 043, Hoshiarpur. The event was conducted in collaboration with Bahu Kala Rang Manch Hoshiarpur and Mera Yuva Bharat.The chief guest was Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) 043 and SDM Hoshiarpur, Gursimranjit Kaur. Also present on the occasion were College Principal Dr. Gagandeep Cheema, Dr. Ashok Puri, Colonel Raghuvir Singh, SVEEP in-charge Prof. Palwinder Kaur, SVEEP nodal officer Chandra Prakash Singh, and election kanungo Harpreet Kaur.Addressing the students, SDM Gursimranjit Kaur said voting is the greatest power of democracy, and every citizen must exercise their franchise responsibly. She appealed to the youth not only to vote themselves but also to motivate their families and society to do the same.Around 500 students participated in the programme. Various activities, including a signature campaign, a seminar on ‘My Vote’, street plays, and a rally, effectively highlighted the importance of voting. The street play presented the crucial role of votes in democracy in a simple and engaging manner.At the conclusion, all participants took a pledge for fair, free, and informed voting. The event aimed to strengthen democratic values and encourage active citizenship among the youth.
