Body Donation Post-Death Best Way

Hoshiarpur | Daljeet Ajnoha : Mar.17 : Under the leadership of Rotary Eye Bank and Corneal Transplantation Society president J.B. Bahal and chairman and prominent social worker Sanjeev Arora, awareness camps on eye and body donation are regularly organised. Inspired by these camps, Basakha Singh and Gurbaksh Kaur from village Beinch Baja, and Onkar Singh from village Sikri, filled out pledges to donate their bodies.On this occasion, chairman Sanjeev Arora provided detailed information on body and eye donation, stating that creating awareness about eye and body donation is the best way to eliminate corneal blindness, restore sight to the afflicted, and advance medical science. “Where many people regain their vision, it also aids medical students in their studies,” he added. Arora noted that these individuals have set an exemplary precedent by signing the pledges, which will forever inspire those eager to serve society. He further revealed that the society has so far sent 30 bodies to various medical colleges for research after death, and 250 people have registered by filling out pledges. Those who signed the pledges were honoured with certificates on the spot.President J.B. Bahal remarked that eye and body donation is a unique gift one can give after death, for which a pledge must be made during one’s lifetime to avoid any obstacles later. The pledge signatories expressed that it was their heartfelt desire for their bodies to benefit others after death, and they fulfilled this wish by registering through the Rotary Eye Bank. Madan Lal Mahajan and Sullakhan Singh were also present.
