Make blood donation an integral

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/April 19 : Centurion blood donor and someone associated with the blood donation movement for over 40 years, Dr. Ajay Bagga, says that if even 1 percent of the population in a country, state, or region makes blood donation an integral part of their life, it can help sustain the flickering lives of patients admitted in hospitals due to blood shortages.
In a press release issued here today, Dr. Ajay Bagga, patron of the Punjab chapter of the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology, stated that healthy individuals aged 18 to 65 years, weighing more than 45 kg and with hemoglobin levels above 12.5 grams, can donate blood every three months. He added that scientific research has shown that regular blood donors face an 88 percent reduced risk of heart diseases. The risk of severe illnesses like cancer of the stomach, throat, lungs, and intestines also decreases, while new blood cells form more quickly. Iron levels in donors remain balanced. Dr. Bagga noted that donors’ livers stay healthy, the body detoxifies, and immunity improves.
Dr. Bagga emphasized that blood donation brings peace of mind and saves lives struggling against death due to blood shortages. Making blood donation a core part of life not only reduces diseases but also multiplies the blessings received from people. Moreover, it is the noblest effort to strengthen brotherhood, communal harmony, and national unity.
