Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 2 :
Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood announced that AAP Councillor Sunita Devi from Ward No. 50 formally severed ties with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the BJP. The switch was declared at a grand event last evening in Salwara Mohalla, Ward No. 50, attended by prominent BJP figures including Tikshan Sood (former minister), Shiv Sood (Mayor), Vinod Parmar (district vice-president), Sarbjeet Singh (former BJP councillor), and Gagandeep Singh Rubal.
Sunita Devi’s husband, Vinder Kumar, and several supporters also announced their decision to join the BJP. Addressing the gathering, Tikshan Sood assured the new entrants of full respect and honour within the party. He stated, “The people of Punjab have witnessed the tenures of both Congress and AAP. The progress and public welfare achieved under BJP governments and municipal bodies is unprecedented. AAP survives on lies, empty promises, and advertisements, yielding no real benefit for Punjab.”
Sood added that those with a conscience can no longer stay with AAP. “Recently, seven Rajya Sabha members and several other leaders have left AAP for BJP, guided by their inner voice, as they realise only BJP works for Punjab, the nation, and the poor.”
Shiv Sood highlighted the Modi government’s achievements, emphasising that all BJP policies are pro-poor and development-oriented. Sunita Devi and Vinder Kumar pledged to serve the area and party selflessly as true BJP soldiers.
