No female employee in Hoshiarpur’s government old age home since April 30 for the care of elderly women; the ashram relies entirely on a male employee.
Shiromani Akali Dal expresses deep resentment over the violation of privacy of disabled and helpless mothers.
If immediate action is not taken against the responsible officials, the matter will be taken to the Women’s Commission.
Hoshiarpur: On one hand, the current state government is making tall claims about the “Chief Minister Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana” to honor the daughters and sisters of Punjab, but on the other hand, the ground reality is highly worrisome and shameful. This revelation was made today by Sanjeev Talwar, the Shiromani Akali Dal’s constituency in-charge from Hoshiarpur, while issuing a sharp statement.
Exposing the government system, Sanjeev Talwar stated that 14 women are currently residing in the government old age home running inside Hoshiarpur. Out of these, 5 elderly women are extremely helpless—they can neither bathe on their own, nor go to the bathroom, nor perform any of their other daily chores.
“It is extremely regrettable and shameful that since this past April 30, no female employee has been deployed in the ashram to take care of these elderly mothers. They are being cared for by a male employee. This is not only making a mockery of the government’s scheme but is also a blatant violation of the privacy of these elderly mothers.”

Condemning this negligence in strong words, the Akali leader demanded that the district administration and the government take immediate and strict action against whichever government officials are responsible for this sensitive situation, and immediately arrange for female staff at the ashram.
Talwar warned that Shiromani Akali Dal will not tolerate this tampering with the dignity of elderly mothers. If the administration does not take immediate action on this matter, they will take this serious issue to the Women’s Commission so that these helpless mothers can get justice and a respectful environment.Present at the press conference were Santosh Singh Aujla, District President of the Business Cell; Sanjeev Thapar, Urban President of the Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha; Ved Raj Aadiya; and Neeti Talwar.”
