Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/June 03 : Hoshiarpur’s Under-19 cricket team registered a convincing six-wicket win over Fatehgarh Sahib in the Boys’ Under-19 Inter-District Tournament organized by the Punjab Cricket Association.
HDC A secretary Dr. Raman Ghai said the two-day match began with Fatehgarh Sahib, who won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 139 runs in their first innings. Mayank Yadav contributed 24 and Samarpreet scored 23. Hoshiarpur’s bowlers were impressive: vice-captain Harshit Nanda took five wickets, captain Aryan Arora claimed three, and Chirag Kumar picked up two.
Hoshiarpur managed just 104 in their first innings, trailing by 35. Sidarth Rana scored 22, Arsh Chauhan 18, Pragyan Sharma 23 and Prithvi Singh 12.
In the second innings, Hoshiarpur’s bowlers tightened up and bundled out Fatehgarh Sahib for only 111. Aryan Sharma top-scored with 36 and Sarvangun added 18. Chirag Kumar led the bowling with five wickets, Harshit Nanda took three, while Aryan Arora and Krishan Walia took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 147 in the final innings, Hoshiarpur reached 149 for four in 32.2 overs to claim victory and earn five points. Sahil Salhotra played a match-winning knock of 65, Pragyan Sharma added 35 and Prithvi Singh contributed 17.
HDC A president Dr. Daljeet Khelan congratulated the team on behalf of the group association. Other HDC A office-bearers — Vivek Sahni, Jatinder Sood, Dr. Pankaj Shiv, Thakur Yograj and Subhash Sharma — joined in praising the side. District coach Daljeet Singh, assistant coaches Praveen Shintu, Pankaj Pinka, Dinesh Sharma and Ashok Sharma, district women’s coach Davinder Kaur, assistant coach Nikita Kumari, district trainer and former national player Kuldeep Dhami also extended their best wishes to the players.
