Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 09 : Under the ongoing Khet Bachao Abhiyan, the district level extension agency of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur organized a field day on PAU tractor operated mat type nursery seeder on 8-6-2026 at village Behbalpur in the fields of S. Gurmail Singh.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Chabbewal, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Ishank Kumar, graced the occasion as chief guest while Chief Agriculture Officer, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Dipinder Singh attended the camp as special guests.
Associate Director (Training), PAU-KVK Hoshiarpur, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, welcomed the guests and the farmers and discussed various activities being conducted by KVK for the welfare of the farming community. He informed that for mechanical paddy transplantation, mat type nursery is essential. Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, has endorsed the use of a tractor driven mat type nursery seeder machine, offering cost and labour savings.
In his presidential address, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Chabbewal, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Ishank Kumar, underscored the commitment of Government for the welfare of the farming community and underlined different activities of the State Govt. regarding the same. Dr. Ishank said that farmers are the backbone of the economy of Punjab and informed that Govt. of Punjab is undertaking all important steps for agricultural development in the state. Dr. Ishank complimented the work being done by KVK Hoshiarpur and exhorted all to avail the various farmer welfare services and training facilities of KVK. He emphasized the importance of mechanized paddy transplantation as the need of the hour.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Dipinder Singh shared different departmental schemes and also stressed on the need for farmers to follow the recommendations of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and especially for adopting resource conservation technologies.
On this occasion, various technical lectures were organized for the benefit of the farmers. Associate Professor (Animal Science), Dr. Parminder Singh addressed the farmers regarding the management of dairy animals during summer season, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering), Dr. Ajaib Singh discussed about the important points to be kept in mind while using PAU mat type nursery seeder, while Agriculture Officer, Dr. Kirandeep Singh, stressed on the balanced use of fertilizers to be followed by the farmers for different kharif crops.
The dignitaries and farmers visited the mat-type nursery fields and expressed great satisfaction with the quality and uniformity of the mat type nursery nursery sown by the machine. Progressive farmer and former Sarpanch of village Kot Fatuhi, S. Gurmail Singh has been successfully raising mat-type paddy nursery for approximately 200 acres of mechanically transplanted paddy using the PAU tractor-operated mat-type paddy nursery seeder for the past four years and was honoured by the guests for his important contributions in mechanical transplantation of paddy.
During this field day, progressive farmers i.e. Sh. Varinder Kumar from village Behbalpur, S. Onkar Singh, S. Kulvir Singh, S. Tarsem Singh, S. Baljit Singh from village Thinda, S. Daljit Singh from village Daata, S. Gurdeep Singh from village Kot Fatuhi, etc., were present during the field day.
During the field day, mineral mixture, bypass fat, dairy premix and PAU technical literature were made available for the benefit of the farmers.
In the end, Sarpanch village Behbalpur, Sh. Jaspreet Singh thanked the guests for gracing the occasion, all experts for delivering informative lectures and farmers & farmwomen for listening attentively to the proceedings of the field day.
