Ludhiana/Daljeet Ajnoha /June 17 : In a significant achievement for healthcare and orthopedic cancer care in North India, Dr. Anubhav Sharma, Orthopedic Surgeon at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana, has successfully completed a prestigious clinical observership at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York, USA, one of the world’s leading cancer treatment and research institutions.
During the intensive training program, Dr. Sharma worked under the mentorship of renowned orthopedic oncologist Dr. Carol Morris, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and holder of the Jack Byrne Chair at MSKCC. The observership provided advanced exposure to surgical planning and treatment strategies for complex bone and soft-tissue tumors, multidisciplinary tumor board discussions, evidence-based clinical decision-making, advanced imaging integration, streamlined preoperative care pathways, and collaborative patient-centered treatment models.
Dr. Sharma received high appreciation from the faculty at MSKCC. In her evaluation, Dr. Morris commended his sophisticated understanding of complex orthopedic oncology cases and his ability to quickly assimilate advanced surgical concepts. The experience has equipped him with global-standard expertise in complex limb-salvage procedures and orthopedic tumor surgeries, which he plans to bring back to benefit patients in India.
