SGPC initiative links youth with

Around 100 students and 10 staff from Mata Gujri College participated in a service programme at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), college principal Dr. Bikramjeet Singh said on Sunday.
Students and staff from the college’s NSS unit, NCC unit and Mata Gujri Study Circle assisted pilgrims arriving from India and abroad by facilitating orderly payar (devotee) arrangements and offering chilled drinking water. They also helped seat elderly people comfortably, maintained decorum in the congregation in keeping with gurughar norms, and encouraged devotees to listen to kirtan.
The college’s NSS and NCC contingents, together with volunteers from the study circle, took part in the seva with humility and dedication and described their involvement as a privilege.
Dr. Bikramjeet Singh lauded the SGPC for organising the initiative, saying it makes students’ holidays meaningful and reconnects them with their religious roots, Sikh teachings and gurmat values. He praised Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the SGPC, and Engineer Sukhminder Singh, secretary of the SGPC’s educational institutions, for leading the campaign.
He added that service-based activities play an important role in students’ all‑round development, especially at a time when many youngsters prefer leisure or tourism during vacations; such initiatives reinforce seva, simran and Sikh values.
Students and college staff expressed special thanks to the SGPC management, Sri Amritsar Sahib, and the SGPC’s Directorate of Education for their support and leadership during the religious service.
