Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/july 2 : Rajesh Bagha, chief advisor of the Scheduled Caste Entrepreneurs Empowerment Forum and former chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, has announced the launch of a major campaign to combat drug abuse across Punjab. Bagha said the initiative will bring people from all sections of society onto a single platform and roll out youth awareness camps in every district of the state.
Speaking from Jalandhar, Bagha said the camps will focus on linking young people to employment opportunities while educating them about the dangers of substance abuse. “Every month lives are being lost to drugs — this is a matter of grave concern for Punjab,” he said, stressing that the state, known worldwide for its rich culture and the significant role its youth played in India’s freedom struggle, must take urgent steps to protect its next generation.
Bagha added that the campaign will mobilise community leaders, employers and local authorities to ensure coordinated action. The awareness programme aims both to prevent addiction through education and to provide alternatives that address the root causes, notably unemployment among young people.
He called on citizens from all walks of life to join the movement and support efforts to restore Punjab’s social fabric and secure a healthier future for its youth.
