BSF Kharkan Camp Hosts ‘A

Former MP and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Avinash Rai Khanna on Friday led a plantation drive at the BSF Kharkan camp under the ‘A Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign, delivering a strong message on environmental conservation. The event saw both male and female trainees at the camp planting saplings and being urged to adopt long-term care for the trees in honour of their mothers.
Addressing those present, Khanna described the campaign as more than a mere tree-planting exercise. “’A Tree in Mother’s Name’ stands for respect for mothers, protection of nature and a commitment to secure the future for coming generations,” he said. He drew a parallel between a mother’s nurturing role and the duty of every individual to responsibly care for saplings they plant. “Just as a mother nurtures her children, every person must take full responsibility for the growth and upkeep of trees they plant,” he added. Khanna said such acts promote environmental protection while fostering sensitivity and a sense of responsibility within society.
The programme was attended by Khanna’s wife Meenakshi Khanna, Superintendent of Police Diwan, Bhavdeep Bali, BSF IG C.D. Agrawal, camp officers and a large number of male and female trainees. Participants pledged to make the campaign a success by planting more trees and ensuring their continued care.
