Inspector Amarjeet Kaur, Station House Officer of Tanda Police Station, along with Bhai Barinder Singh Masiti, Eye Donor Incharge, Tanda, and a member of the Netra Daan Sanstha Hoshiarpur, appealed to the public to make blood donation, eye donation, body donation, and organ donation an integral part of their lives.
Addressing the gathering at Tanda Police Station, Inspector Amarjeet Kaur said that every healthy individual should voluntarily donate blood during their lifetime and pledge to donate their eyes, body, and organs after death. She emphasized that blood and human eyes cannot be manufactured artificially, and only one human being can save another through the noble act of donation.
Bhai Barinder Singh Masiti informed the audience that, according to medical experts, eye donation can be performed within four to six hours after death. He shared that he has voluntarily donated blood 13 times and has also pledged to donate his eyes, body, and all medically suitable organs after his death.
He further stated that for the past 24 years, he has been travelling nearly 30 kilometres every day on his bicycle to spread awareness about voluntary blood donation, eye donation, body donation, and organ donation. Despite being over 65 years of age, he continues his awareness campaign with unwavering dedication, believing that serving humanity is the greatest service of all.
Inspector Amarjeet Kaur also encouraged the police personnel at Tanda Police Station to support this humanitarian mission and motivate people to pledge for organ and eye donation. She said that acts of kindness and selfless service can bring hope and a new life to countless patients in need.
The programme concluded with a collective appeal to the public to come forward and support these life-saving initiatives by donating blood while alive and pledging eye, body, and organ donation after death, thereby contributing to the welfare of humanity.
