Under the leadership of club president Parmjit Singh Sachdeva, Fit Bikers Club presented a special honour to world-class cyclist Somen Debnath. Over a 19-year journey, Debnath cycled through 191 countries to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS — a unique and remarkable mission.
Speaking at the event, club president Parmjit Singh Sachdeva said Debnath’s journey was more than a world record; it was a major mission rooted in humanity and social awareness. He added that cycling across 191 countries over 19 years exemplifies extraordinary courage, determination and relentless effort. Sachdeva praised Debnath for shouldering social responsibility by educating people about prevention and awareness of HIV/AIDS during his travels.
Somen Debnath thanked the Fit Bikers Club for the honour and urged people to lead healthy lives, exercise regularly and remain aware of social issues.
Club members present at the event included Uttam Singh Sabi, Sagar Saini, Daulat Singh, Shivanjali Sharma, Tarlochan Singh, Gurmell Singh, Omkar Singh, Rohit Bassi, Raman Boparai, Govinder Bunty, Tejinder Singh, Sanjeev Sohal, Manu Pandit, Ranjit Singh, Amarinder Saini and Munir Nazar.
