Women Commission should give instructions for strict action:
Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/Nov.19 :
Former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood released a press note in which he said that the indecent comments made by former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi against women by cracking jokes in the presence of Congress candidate Mrs. Amrita Baring during the election campaign in the Gidderwaha by-election cannot be condemned enough. He said that these comments reveal Channi’s indecent mentality towards women. Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi has been controversial in the past on charges of molestation by many women and he has been known as “Me Too” because he does not spare any woman he comes in contact with. The worst thing is that Channi has deliberately tried to avoid the notice sent to him by the Women Commission after taking cognizance of the matter itself, even though there were public reports about that action and instead of appearing before the commission and giving clarification, Channi pretended to apologize outside. Mr. Channi does not have respect for women by nature and according to the Chairperson of the Women Commission, he is also in the habit of not accepting the summons of the courts. Mr. Sood has said that leaders like Channi are a stigma not only for the Congress but for the entire society. There is no justification in apologizing after insulting and mocking women and demeaning them because apology is for a mistake committed due to misunderstanding and not for a crime committed deliberately, therefore the Women Commission should take the strictest action against Channi and the Congress party should put a rein on Channi’s mouth. He said that even the voters of all the four Vidhan Sabhas will not forgive Channi for this heinous crime. Which will cause direct loss to the Congress party.
