In a significant step towards combating the drug menace in Punjab, a large-scale anti-drug awareness rally was organized today in Chabbewal as part of the state government’s ongoing campaign against substance abuse. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from government officials, law enforcement agencies, and members of the local community.
The rally was led by Dr. Ishank Kumar, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Chabbewal, along with Superintendent of Police (SP) Major Singh (PBI), who emphasized the importance of united efforts in eliminating drugs from society. Their leadership gave a strong message of commitment to a drug-free Punjab.
Several high-ranking police officials were present to support the cause, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manpreet Sheemar, Inspector Prabhjot Kaur, Station House Officer (SHO) of Chabbewal Police Station, and Inspector Baljit Singh Hundal, SHO of Mehtiana Police Station. Dr. Shiv Kumar and a large contingent of Armed Reserve Police (ARP) personnel also joined the rally, showing strength in numbers and resolve.
The rally moved through various parts of Chabbewal, raising awareness among the public, especially the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse. Slogans were raised, banners were held high, and leaflets were distributed to educate people about prevention, rehabilitation, and the importance of staying away from drugs.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar spoke passionately about the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and called for greater community involvement in the fight. He stressed the need for awareness, education, and timely intervention to safeguard future generations.
He further engaged in a special discussion with officials and the public, highlighting ongoing government strategies, including rehabilitation centers, awareness programs in schools and colleges, and increased police vigilance in vulnerable areas.
This rally was not just a show of force but also a display of solidarity — reinforcing the message that the fight against drugs is not just the responsibility of the government or police, but of every citizen.
