Savi International’s Mukul Verma and Senior Journalist Sanjeev Kumar Discuss Punjab Government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ Campaign, Emphasize Youth Transformatio

In a significant interaction, Mukul Verma, Executive Director of Savi International, engaged with senior journalist Sanjeev Kumar to discuss the Punjab Government’s ambitious and much-needed initiative — ‘ਯੁੱਧ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ’ (War Against Drugs).
During the conversation, Mr. Verma praised the government’s proactive stance, calling the campaign a turning point for the youth of Punjab. He highlighted how the initiative is beginning to bring positive behavioral change, motivating young individuals to move away from substance abuse and towards purposeful lives.
“This is a decisive phase for Punjab. The government’s commitment to tackling drug abuse is commendable. We are seeing real change in the mindset of our youth — a shift toward self-discipline and contribution to society,” Mr. Verma stated.
He further stressed the need for complementary efforts, such as expanding opportunities in sports, skill development, and vocational training, to fully harness the potential of young minds.
“If we want to defeat drugs, we must give youth something greater to aspire to. Sports and fitness can play a powerful role in building confidence, focus, and community. The government must continue investing in these areas to sustain the momentum,” he added.
The discussion also reflected on the importance of collaboration between civil society, NGOs, and government bodies in creating an ecosystem of support, awareness, and rehabilitation.
With continued effort and engagement, Punjab’s War Against Drugs program is emerging not only as a crackdown on addiction but as a movement for youth empowerment and social reform.
