MLA Attends Annual Jor Mela of Baba Jakh Sahib, Highlights Development Achievements and Ongoing Road Projects

A huge annual jor mela held at Baba Jakh Sahib at Bahowal was attended by a large number of devotees and Cahbbewal MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar also joined the devotees at this mega celebration and paid obeisance at the holy shrine.
Addressing devotees and local residents on the occasion, he extended his wishes to all attending the spiritual celebration. He took the opportunity to inform all that Bahowal village is witnessing major development push with development works worth more than ₹13.5 crore. These works have either been completed or are currently underway in Bahowal, including the Bahowal–Dera Baba Jakh Sahib road project being executed at a cost of ₹1.57 crore. He added that this road will not only benefit local residents and farmers but will also facilitate devotees visiting Baba Jakhu Sahib from different parts of the region.
Dr. Ishank Kumar further informed that, apart from this project, other major road infrastructure works worth nearly ₹9.32 crore are also underway to improve connectivity in the region. These include the upgradation of the 10.50-kilometre road connecting Hoshiarpur–Mahilpur Road to Bham via Bahowal, Barian Kalan and Makhangarh at a cost of ₹8.03 crore, as well as the Bahowal–Khetibari Bhawan (Barian) road project being executed at a cost of ₹1.28 crore.
The MLA said that, along with investments in road infrastructure, several other important development works demanded by the Bahowal Panchayat have already been completed. These include the repair of the irrigation tubewell system at a cost of ₹2.45 crore, construction and improvement of streets and drains with a grant of ₹5 lakh, development of the village playground with ₹5 lakh, sewage and sullage water disposal works with ₹5 lakh, and a special grant of ₹2 lakh for flood protection works. He said these projects have significantly improved civic amenities and addressed several long-pending concerns of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ishank Kumar emphasised that better roads, improved irrigation facilities, enhanced sanitation infrastructure and sports facilities are directly improving the quality of life in the Chabbewal constituency. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, efforts are being made to ensure that development reaches every village and that every welfare scheme benefits every eligible resident of the constituency. He reiterated that every genuine demand of the people is being addressed on priority and assured that development work would continue with the same momentum in the coming years.
The Sarpanch of Bahowal Hardeep Singh thanked Dr. Ishank Kumar and stated that people of Bahowal and surrounding villages highly appreciate the development-oriented approach adopted by the MLA. He expressed confidence that the ongoing road projects would further strengthen connectivity and accelerate the overall development of the region.
