Disciple of Dronacharya Bhupender Dhawan, Gurdit Singh, created history once again by being declared the Best Powerlifter at the Balkan Open Classic & Equipped (Bench Press/Squat/Deadlift) Championship. Earlier in 2024, he had also won the title of Best Powerlifter at the English Open held in England.
In this year’s championship, Gurdit Singh won the Best Powerlifter Award in the Junior 110+ kg category, while Sumit Das clinched the gold medal in the Senior 110 kg category, and Jagdish Singh Jassa bagged the gold medal in the Senior 100 kg category.
Held on September 6-7, 2025, in Belgrade, Serbia, Gurdit Singh lifted a total of 667.5 kg (Classic Raw) to secure the title of Best Powerlifter (Junior Category).
Both Sumit Das and Jagdish Singh Jassa won gold medals in the Full Powerlifting Raw division, bringing pride to India.
Om Prakash Angrish, President of IPL India, congratulated the disciples of Indian team coach Dronacharya Bhupender Dhawan for their outstanding achievement and extended best wishes for their future endeavors.
