Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Jan.26 : The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great national pride, enthusiasm and grandeur at the Nursery Ground of the BBMB Township, under the guidance of Chief Engineer Mr. Rakesh Kumar Gupta.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Engineer Mr. V.K. Meena unfurled the National Flag.
After the flag-hoisting ceremony, Mr. V.K. Meena addressed the gathering and extended warm greetings to all officers, employees, students, and residents on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day. He said that 26 January holds a special place in India’s history, as it marks the day the constitution came into force, establishing the country as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.
In his address, Mr. Meena stated that BBMB is not merely an organisation but a sacred institution of modern India, envisioned by our forefathers.
He highlighted that BBMB has made an unparalleled contribution to the prosperity of North India, the Green Revolution, and energy security. BBMB projects not only generate electricity but also spread prosperity to millions of homes and agricultural fields.
Appreciating the dedication of BBMB engineers and employees, he remarked that Republic Day is an occasion to salute all those personnel who continue to contribute selflessly to nation-building even under challenging conditions.
Addressing the students, Mr. Meena said that the smiles and enthusiasm on the faces of children represent the true future of the nation. He encouraged them to imbibe discipline, patriotism, and quality education, stating that these values would help India emerge as a “Vishwa Guru” in the years to come.
He also expressed special gratitude to members of the media, acknowledging their vital role as the fourth pillar of democracy in disseminating accurate information and highlighting BBMB’s achievements.
During the programme, school students presented vibrant cultural performances that enthralled the audience. A parade was also organised, in which the Fire Brigade contingent, along with NCC and NSS contingents from various schools, participated, showcasing exemplary discipline and patriotism.
On the occasion, winners of the Hindi Pakhwada organised by BBMB were felicitated.
Among others present were Superintending Engineers Mrs. Manveen Chaudhary and Ajit Kumar; Executive Engineers Vinay Kumar, Gaurav Lamba, and Punit Mahajan; SDOs Dheeraj Kumar, Gopal Singh, Jangir Singh Gill, and Rajesh Sharma; Junior Engineers Gulshan Kumar, Jatin Sharma, Baljit Singh, Harpreet Singh, and Omrao Singh; Superintendent Tilak Raj Sharma; Principals Rohit Salaria and Mrs. Gitanjali Sharma, along with several officers, staff members, and students.
Apart from this, Superintending Engineer Mrs. Manveen Chaudhary unfurled the National Flag at Pong Dam on Republic Day, while the Tricolour was also unfurled at the Chief Engineer’s Office by Deputy Chief Engineer Mr VK Meena.
