Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal and the able leadership of Senior Medical Officer In-Charge of CHC Harta Badla, Dr. Manpreet Singh Bains, all Primary Health Centres, Health and Wellness Centres and Sub-Health Centres in Block Harta Badla observed International Yoga Day today with great enthusiasm and zeal. Doctors, health staff, ASHA workers, ANMs, multipurpose health workers and local residents participated in the event and took part in yoga exercises. During the programme, yoga instructors and health officials led participants through poses and practices including Tadasana (mountain pose), Vrikshasana (tree pose), Bhujangasana (cobra pose), Vajrasana, pranayama, Anulom-Vilom and meditation.
Dr. Manpreet Singh Bains said on the occasion that yoga is India’s ancient and invaluable heritage. He emphasised that yoga is not merely physical exercise but a holistic means to improve mental, spiritual and physical well‑being. He noted that in today’s fast‑paced and stressful life, incorporating yoga into daily routine is essential for staying healthy. “If we practise yoga for just 30 minutes a day, we can prevent many serious ailments such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and mental stress,” he said. He added that this year’s International Yoga Day aims to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and practise yoga regularly. Yoga not only prevents illness but also enhances individual productivity and quality of life.
All health staff and attendees pledged to practise yoga daily and to encourage others to take it up. The programme also included awareness messages about yoga and healthy living, urging people to avoid substances, maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly. Dr. Bains appealed to all staff and residents to treat this day not as a one‑time event but to commit to lifelong practice of yoga to build a healthy and disease‑free society.
