Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 14 : The Bahujan Samaj Party’s ‘Punjab Bachao Campaign’ gained fresh momentum today when BSP Punjab president Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri joined the ongoing strike by sanitation workers in Hoshiarpur. He endorsed their demands as legitimate, announced unconditional support, and blamed the contractor system for exploiting workers.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Karimpuri launched a scathing attack on Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, and AAP. He accused these parties of nurturing the contractor system, which directly causes economic and mental exploitation of workers. “BSP stands firmly against this loot and will fight shoulder-to-shoulder for employees’ rights,” he declared.
Warning the current government, Karimpuri demanded immediate regularization of all contractual workers, implementation of the old pension scheme as per election promises, and release of 18% pending DA for employees and pensioners. Emphasizing the ‘Punjab Bachao Campaign’, he vowed that if the people bring BSP to power, all contractual workers would be regularized and 100% of their legitimate demands met without delay.
He concluded that the campaign aims to free Punjab from these “looter parties” and establish a people-centric state. Party zone coordinator Chaudhary Gurnam Singh and state general secretary Bhagwan Das Sidhu also spoke. Others present included state secretary Maninder Singh Sherpuri, Sukhdev Bitta (state secretary), district general secretary Dharminder Dadra (advocate), district vice-president Somanath Bains, Madan Singh Bains (in-charge, Hoshiarpur assembly), Jagmohan Sajjana (sarpanch), Vijay Khanpuri, Harjit Ladi, Yash Bhatti, Varinder Badhan, Eng.
