Bus falls into ditch after

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 10 : A bus returning after paying obeisance at Shri Charan Chho Ganga, Shri Khuralgarh Sahib, fell into a deep ditch while climbing uphill after reportedly suffering brake failure, but a major loss of life was narrowly averted.
The bus, bearing registration number PB 08 BD 0181, had arrived this morning from village Daulatpur in Phagwara with around 55 passengers for darshan at the historic Shri Charan Chho Ganga and Shri Guru Ravidas historic religious site, Begumpura Shri Khuralgarh Sahib. On the return journey, while ascending from Begumpura Chowk towards Khurali village, the vehicle’s brakes failed, causing it to roll backward and slip into a deep ditch with its rear tyres.
Except for three to four passengers, the rest had already been deboarded before the mishap, preventing a major tragedy. A woman, a four-year-old girl, and three others, including the driver, were still on board. One person sustained minor injuries and was safely rescued from the bus by people present at the spot.
Sukhdev Raj, who was travelling with the group, said the congregation from Daulatpur village in Phagwara was returning after offering prayers at Shri Khuralgarh Sahib when the accident took place while climbing the slope near Begumpura Chowk.
Sant Satvinder Heera, National President of the All India Adi Dharam Mission (Regd.) India, who was present at the scene, enquired about the condition of the devotees and said the route is dangerous, with several accidents having already taken place there and many precious lives lost. He demanded that the government close the road to heavy vehicles and deploy permanent traffic police supervision to prevent further accidents.
