25-year-long wait ends, 1.30 km road to be built at a cost of ₹51 lakh
– Significant step towards regional development and smoother transportation
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 24 :
Giving a major push to development works in the Sham Chaurasi constituency, Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajvot Singh formally inaugurated the construction of a link road connecting village Lamme to village Sandhma. The road will span approximately 1.30 kilometers and will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹51 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Singh said that the Punjab government is committed to the all-round development of rural areas, and pending projects are being prioritized and completed on a mission mode. He added that the road had remained unpaved for years, causing significant difficulties to locals, especially during the rainy season. With its construction, not only will travel become easier, but access to trade, education, and healthcare will also improve considerably.
He highlighted that this link road will serve as a connector between two districts, enhancing regional coordination and giving a new boost to social and economic activities. The project represents an important step toward strengthening rural infrastructure.
Villagers expressed happiness at the beginning of the road construction, saying that the road had been neglected for the past 25 years, slowing down local development. With this initiative, schoolchildren, patients, and farmers will all benefit—students will reach schools more easily, patients can get to hospitals quicker, and farmers can transport their produce to markets without trouble.
Dr. Rajvot Singh assured the public that all villages in the area would soon have paved roads and access to essential infrastructure to ensure a better standard of living for the rural population. He also directed administrative officers to ensure timely and quality completion of the work.
Present at the event were Parminder Singh, Surinder Singh, Charanjit Singh, Bhupinderpal Singh, Master Amarjeet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Kulwinder Kaur, and several other dignitaries.
