Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 10 : Under the guidance of the Punjab Government and the leadership of Director Mr. Jaswant Singh Zafar, the Language Department of Punjab continues to play an active role in promoting and preserving Punjabi language and culture. As part of this ongoing effort, the department is preparing to publish a special edition of its magazine Punjabi Duniya dedicated to the renowned literary figure Dr. Jagtar.
Writers from across the district are invited to submit original and unpublished research papers for this special issue.
Speaking in detail about the initiative, District Research Officer Dr. Jaswant Rai highlighted that Dr. Jagtar has made a significant contribution to Punjabi language and literature. He elevated Punjabi ghazal to a level of excellence that is a source of pride for the community. His poetry collections—such as Ruttan Rangliyan, Talkhiyan Rangeeniyan, Dudh Pathri, Adhoora Aadmi, Chhangia Rukh, Lahu De Naksh, Jazīriyan Vich Ghiria Samundar, Chanukri Shaam, Sheeshe De Jangal, Jugnu Diva Te Dariya—have enriched the literary heritage of Punjabi. His book Jugnu Diva Te Dariya has even been awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award.
Recognizing Dr. Jagtar’s immense literary contributions, the Punjab Government honored him with the title of Shiromani Kavi in 1991. Writing a research paper on such a distinguished poet and contributing to the Punjabi Duniya magazine is an opportunity of great pride for any writer.
Interested authors may contact the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur to submit their research papers. Along with the paper, writers must include their full name, address, mobile number, and a confirmation that the research paper is original and unpublished.
