Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/August 24 : Several days of continuous rainfall have created serious problems for farmers in the region. Arpan Singh, a farmer from village Kotla, reported that due to the heavy flow of rainwater, nearly six of his paddy fields were completely submerged.
According to Arpan Singh, he had expected a good income worth lakhs of rupees from this crop, but the waterlogging and flooding in the fields have ruined his entire year’s hard work and investment. He said such heavy losses are extremely difficult for any farmer to bear, as their livelihood depends solely on farming.
Other farmers from the area, including Gurinder Singh and Surjit Singh, who were also present at the spot, stated that continuous rainfall has damaged crops in several parts of the region. They appealed to the government and administration to provide adequate compensation for their losses so that farmers can once again resume cultivation and sustain their families.
