Deputy Commissioner thanks voters after

Hoshiarpur/July 5/Daljeet Ajnoha : Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain today thanked voters after polling for 50 wards of the municipal corporation concluded peacefully, transparently and fairly. She said voting, which began at 8 a.m., registered a turnout of 60.5 percent by the time polling ended.
Jain added that counting commenced as soon as the process concluded and results would be declared shortly. She also said the State Election Commission has granted a compensatory holiday on July 6 (Monday) to presiding officers, polling officers, sector officers and Group D staff who were on election duty.
General Observer Dr. Senu Duggal, appointed by the State Election Commission for the municipal polls in Hoshiarpur, visited various polling booths along with ADC Nikas Kumar and SDM Parmpreet Singh to review the election process. Dr. Duggal said the entire voting proceeded smoothly and electors exercised their franchise with enthusiasm.
