Deputy Commissioner Inspires Patients to Embrace a New Life Free from Addiction
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct 21 : The District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Hoshiarpur, celebrated the festival of ‘Jashn-e-Diwali’ with great enthusiasm and joy. Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson of the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society, Ashika Jain, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Special guests included Civil Surgeon Dr. Balbir Kumar and Deputy Medical Commissioner-cum-Member Secretary Dr. Swati Shimhar.The program was meticulously organized under the supervision of Dr. Mahima Manhas, Medical Officer In-charge, D.D.R.C., and her team. The Rotary Club, led by its President Principal Timatini Aluwalia, distributed refreshments to the patients.A series of vibrant competitions such as rangoli making, special tasks, tug-of-war, spoon-lemon race, musical chairs, solo dance, and bhangra were held for the patients. The centre was beautifully decorated with earthen lamps and rangolis to mark the festive occasion. Winners were honoured with medals, while all participants received gifts as tokens of encouragement.Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain expressed satisfaction over the successful functioning of the centre, emphasizing its crucial role in social reconstruction. She urged patients to lead a life of positivity, saying that life is precious and should be enlightened by good deeds rather than addiction. She encouraged everyone to bring the light of Diwali into their own lives.To mark the completion of 10 successful years of the centre, the Deputy Commissioner presented an “Award of Appreciation” to the team for their outstanding service in the state.Civil Surgeon Dr. Balbir Kumar blessed the patients and motivated them to pursue a drug-free life with renewed hope and determination. Dr. Swati Shimhar expressed pride in being part of a family that has successfully treated more than 3,000 patients to date.Prominent attendees included Rotary Club members Satish Kumar, Suman Nayyar, Yogesh Chandra, B.S.
