Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/July 10 : District Magistrate Ashika Jain has issued several orders imposing restrictions across the district under the powers vested in her by Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (Indian Civil Security Code), 2023.
According to the orders, owners of poultry farms, rice shellers, brick kilns, and other small-scale industries—as well as all other employers—are directed to maintain a register at their premises. This register must contain the names, full addresses, and three photographs (front, left, and right profiles) of all their employees, along with the addresses of the employees’ relatives. Fingerprints of the employees must also be recorded in the register. A copy of this complete record must be submitted promptly to the local police station or police post.
Similarly, house and shop owners, current occupants, and those in charge of such properties are also required to report the name and full address of any tenant—current or future—to the local police station or post without delay.
The District Magistrate has also imposed a complete ban on the felling of green mango, neem, peepal, and banyan trees in de-listed areas of the district. If cutting any of these trees becomes absolutely necessary under special circumstances, it can only be done with prior permission from the Forest Department. The procedure for obtaining such permission will be the same as that followed under Sections 4 and 5 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900. If the trees are located outside of de-listed areas in Hoshiarpur district, prior permission must be obtained from the Deputy Commissioner’s office before any cutting takes place.
Additionally, a complete ban has been placed on delivering hate speeches targeting any community during public gatherings, religious events, wedding functions, or any other events by individuals or social/religious organizations. Any violation will result in strict legal action against the offender.
In a separate order, the District Magistrate has prohibited the washing or bathing of animals in large or small canals, embankments of seasonal streams (choes), and flood protection embankments along the Beas River. Grazing animals openly on public roads or in public spaces is also strictly banned.
Furthermore, the District Magistrate has prohibited the burning of crop residue within a 1000-yard (914 meters) radius of the 18 Ammunition Depot, located in Uchi Bassi, Tehsil Dasuya, District Hoshiarpur.
All of these orders will remain in force until September 7, 2025.
