With the aim of spreading awareness against drug abuse and giving a healthy direction to the young generation, district police and district administration Hoshiarpur organized a special 5 km marathon today. During this, separate marathons were organized for men and women. The event started from the Police Line ground and passed through various major places of the city and ended back at the Police Line ground. The marathon was successfully completed and about 3 thousand participants took part in it.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Punjab Bram Shankar Jimpa, MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal, and Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Roudhi attended as the chief guests and flagged off the marathon. and others guests MLA Sham Chaurasi Dr. Ravjot Singh, MLA Udmur Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, MLA Dasuha Karamveer Singh Ghuman, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla, District and Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Mayor Surinder Kumar, and SSP Surendra Lamba were also present. During this, the winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes.

In his address, Cabinet Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa praised this awareness campaign against drug abuse and said that organizing such programs is very important to save our society and especially our youth from the bad habit of drug abuse. The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is running a war-footing campaign against drug abuse, and we need the full support of the public in this fight. He appealed to the public to support the police in this campaign and inform the police confidentially about the people involved in the drug trade.

MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal praised the district police and administration for this event and said that such awareness campaigns against drugs play an important role in our society. Due to the strictness of Punjab Police, thousands of drug smugglers have been arrested and their conviction ratio has also increased to 85 percent. He said that this shows that our fight against drugs is going in the right direction, and it needs support from every section of the society.

Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Roudhi said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is moving ahead with the mission of a healthy Punjab, in which the cooperation of all sections of the society is necessary. The dream of a drug-free Punjab can be realized only when we all work together in this direction. He said that this event made a significant contribution in raising awareness against drugs and proved that a drug-free society can be created only through collective efforts.

SSP Surendra Lamba while welcoming the guests appealed to the people that if any person near them sells drugs, then they can inform about it on Hoshiarpur Police Drug Helpline number 95016-60318. The name and address of the informer will be kept as Gupta.

On this occasion AIG Naresh Dogra, SP Manoj Thakur, SP Sarbjit Singh Bahia, Akshay Sangwan from Sonalika, Jatinderpal Singh from Vardhman Group, social worker Paramjit Singh Sachdeva, member of Punjab Gauseva Commission Jaspal Singh Chechi, SDM Sanjeev Sharma, DSP Vigilance Manish Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Civil Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Sandeep Tiwari, District President of Aam Aadmi Party Gurvinder Singh Pabla, Assistant Director Youth Services Preet Kohli and other officers of civil and police department were also present.

Marathon Result

SSP Surendra Lamba said that Harjodhvir Singh of Dasuha, Lovepreet Singh of Ferozepur and Prabhjot Singh of Sangrur came first in the marathon. These three players were given a cash prize of Rs 5100 each.

Rinku of Fazilka, Sukhwinder Singh, Lakshyadeep Singh of Tanda, Shamsher Singh of Jalandhar and Amritpal Singh of Tarn Taran came second. These five players were given a cash prize of Rs 3100 each.

Arun of Hoshiarpur, Kuldeep of Fazilka, Gagandeep Singh of Amritsar, Shubham of Batala, Neeraj of SBS Nagar, Jatinder Singh of Tanda, Mohit of Hoshiarpur, Harshdeep Singh, Vansh of Pathankot and Bharat of Batala came third. These ten players were given a cash prize of Rs 1100 each.

Similarly, among girls, Mandeep Kaur of Dasuha stood first. She was given a cash prize of Rs 5100. Amandeep Kaur and Pooja of Dasuha stood second and were given a cash prize of Rs 3100. Similarly, Inderjot Kaur of SBS Nagar, Jaspreet Kaur of Dasuha, Jiya, Ananya and Sukhwinder Kaur of Fazilka stood third. These five players were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1100 each.
