DM Imposes Restrictions in Hoshiarpur

by

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajanoha : District Magistrate Ashika Jain has issued orders imposing various restrictions across the district, invoking powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.Owners of poultry farms, rice shellers, kilns, small-scale industries, and those employing domestic help must maintain a register at their premises with details of all workers under their employ. This includes the worker’s full name, complete address, three photographs (front, left, and right profiles), and addresses of all relatives. Employers are also required to record fingerprints in the register and submit the entire record immediately to the nearest police station or post.House and shop owners, occupants, or those in charge must similarly register details of tenants—past, present, or future—with the local police station or post, including names and full addresses. The DM has banned the felling of green mango, neem, peepal, and ber trees in de-listed areas within district limits. Such trees may only be cut with prior permission from the Forest Department, following the procedure under Sections 4 and 5 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900, as applied for permit issuance in closed areas. Outside de-listed zones, permission must be obtained from the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Hoshiarpur.Additionally, the use of military olive green (military colour) jeeps, motorcycles, or motor vehicles is prohibited district-wide, except by military personnel. Unauthorized adults are barred from wearing armed forces, Punjab Police, BSF, or military uniforms, and from selling or buying such uniforms. These orders do not apply to armed forces, Punjab Police, BSF, or military officials. The DM has also imposed a complete ban on watering or bathing livestock in major and minor canals, CHOA embankments, or the Dhusie embankment along the Beas River. Grazing animals on public roads or crowded places is similarly prohibited.Further, setting fire to crop residue or khuhad (water channels) within 1,000 yards (914 metres) of the outer boundary wall of the 18-Ammunition Depot in Unchi Basi, Tehsil Dasuya, is fully banned. These orders remain in effect until March 7, 2026.
