Drug De-addiction Awareness Seminar Held

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct.17 : A seminar on drug de-addiction awareness was organized at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Railway Mandi, Hoshiarpur under the guidance of Principal Rajan Arora. The event was a collaborative effort between the Shivalik Hills Welfare Society, Hoshiarpur, the Health Department, and the Society for Service to Voluntary Organizations, Punjab, Chandigarh.Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Swati attended as the chief guest. In her address, she reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and called for active participation from all community members. Dr. Swati stated, “The fight against drug abuse can only be won through collective determination and unified action.” She further acknowledged the efforts of the Shivalik Hills Welfare Society as commendable in the drive against substance abuse.Principal Rajan Arora welcomed all dignitaries, including Dr. Swati, Dr. Shipra, Amarjeet Hamrol, and the team of experts, and highlighted the urgent need to address the rising incidence of drug use among the youth. He encouraged students to distance themselves from drugs to ensure a positive future.The Society’s Chief Advisor and retired Secretary of the District Red Cross emphasized the importance of guiding the younger generation, highlighting that drug addiction impacts not only the individual but the entire family—especially mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters.Medical Officer Dr. Shipra from the Civil Hospital, along with District Drug Manager and social activist Davinder Singh, provided students with insights into the multifaceted consequences of substance abuse. They shared detailed information about government-run OAT, OST, de-addiction centres, and rehabilitation facilities.Vice Principal Puneet delivered a vote of thanks to all attending dignitaries, experts, students, and school staff, and reiterated Principal Arora’s ongoing initiatives to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
