Environment Youth Parliament 2026 to be

AM NATH, Salooni, Chamba :  Government Degree College Salooni is organizing the Environment Youth Parliament 2026 on February 28, 2026, under the aegis of its Eco Club, Government Degree College Salooni. The program is being conducted in collaboration with adopted and peripheral schools and colleges of Chamba District under the theme “Youth Leadership for Sustainable Environment and Climate Action.”
The Environment Youth Parliament is an academic and leadership initiative designed to engage students from schools and colleges in democratic dialogue and environmental policymaking. The event will simulate real parliamentary functioning, where student representatives will participate in structured sessions including; Question Hour, Zero Hour, Bill Presentation, Debate, and Voting on key environmental concerns affecting their institutions and local communities.
Students from Government Senior Secondary Schools and Government Colleges across the Salooni region and adjoining areas will participate along with teacher coordinators. The program will provide participants with practical exposure to parliamentary procedures, democratic functioning, and policy formulation. It will also promote awareness about major environmental challenges such as climate change, plastic pollution, deforestation, biodiversity loss, and water conservation.
Participants will present and debate an environmental bill, adopt resolutions, and take an environmental pledge to promote sustainable practices including plastic reduction, plantation, and green campus initiatives. The event will conclude with an award ceremony recognizing Best Speaker, Best Parliamentarian, Best Debater, Best Leader, and Best Institution.
The Principal stated that the Youth Parliament will empower students to become environmentally responsible citizens and future leaders while strengthening collaboration between schools and colleges. The initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and democratic values in Himachal Pradesh.
