FCRA Bill to Curb Foreign

Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/August 8— Former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood said the FCRA bill introduced by the Modi government in Parliament will significantly help India’s unhindered progress in the future. He added that the United States and other countries that seek to weaken India are opposing the bill. A sitting U.S. lawmaker, Riley Moore, has openly criticized it, Mr. Sood noted.
Mr. Sood said the Indian government has made it clear that no foreign country has the right to oppose a matter of India’s sovereignty, and Parliament is fully entitled to enact any law in the national interest. He explained that the bill contains provisions to control funds coming into India from abroad. These controls, he said, will stop foreign money intended to create disorder and to break the country apart.
Religion conversion is another key issue, Mr. Sood added, noting sustained opposition within India to conversions effected through inducements. He alleged that vast sums are being sent from abroad to facilitate conversions, undermining the fabric of the country’s religious demography. Investigations into several recent violent movements, he said, have confirmed damage to national property funded by foreign money.
“By clamping down on foreign funds, this bill will prevent attempts to divide the nation,” Mr. Sood said. He pointed out that many countries, including the United States, already have similar laws, and therefore no other nation has the right to criticize India’s legislation. Mr. Sood also welcomed the public affirmation of India’s stance by Randhir Jaiswal at the Ministry of External Affairs, saying it sent a clear and appropriate message to foreigners.
