Daljeet Ajnoha l Hoshiarpur : May 26 : In an in-depth and exclusive conversation with Hoshiarpur MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa, several key issues were discussed, ranging from Punjab’s ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign to the district’s development works, educational reforms, promotion of sports, and youth-focused government initiatives. The discussion served as a bridge between grassroots realities, government efforts, and public expectations.
MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa emphasized that the ‘Yudh Nashe Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) campaign has evolved from a government initiative into a full-fledged people’s movement. “The government has reached out to villages and raised awareness about the dangers of drugs. Today, every section of society is coming forward to support this cause. It is our moral duty to rescue our youth from this menace. The administration, police, and social organizations are working together to combat it,” he said.
He also stated that strict instructions have been issued to the police administration to take decisive action against drug mafias, while rehabilitation centers are being made more effective and accessible.
Jimpa highlighted that the Punjab government is highly focused on delivering quality and technology-enabled education. “Initiatives like the ‘School of Eminence’ are transforming government schools. Now, the children of Hoshiarpur no longer need to move out for a better future,” he said.
He further explained that teacher training, smart classrooms, and digital libraries are being integrated into the system to change the perception and performance of government schools.
When asked about development, the MLA detailed that both urban and rural areas of Hoshiarpur are witnessing major infrastructure upgrades, including road construction, drainage systems, street lighting, cleanliness drives, and enhanced primary healthcare facilities.
He noted that several new health centers have been inaugurated and existing ones are being upgraded with modern medical equipment.
“Our aim is to turn Hoshiarpur into a smart, clean, and livable city where every citizen has access to basic services with ease,” he added.
Talking about youth development, Jimpa stated that several sports complexes and playgrounds are under development in the district.
“Sports are a powerful tool to steer youth away from drugs. That’s why the government is promoting sports activities at both village and school levels,” he remarked.
He also mentioned that financial aid and coaching facilities are being provided to athletes to help them compete at state and national levels.
The MLA emphasized the state’s commitment to skill development and entrepreneurship. He shared that employment fairs are being organized in Hoshiarpur, and youth are being trained to take up self-employment or gain jobs in the private sector.
