Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec.9 : A felicitation ceremony was organized today at the Civil Surgeon’s office in Hoshiarpur to mark the conclusion of the Sterilization Fortnight. The event was chaired by Dr. Balbir Kumar, Civil Surgeon of Hoshiarpur, and conducted under the leadership of Dr. Ranjit Singh, District Family Welfare Officer. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Swati Shimar, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema Garg, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Ajay Basra, District Dental Health Officer Dr. Kapil Dogra, senior medical officers from various health institutions, and Deputy Mass Media Officers Ramandeep Kaur and Ravinder Jassal.During the program, surgeons who made exemplary contributions to the Sterilization Fortnight, male health workers who motivated community members for sterilization, and senior medical officers from the respective blocks were honored for their outstanding service.Dr. Balbir Kumar highlighted that the Sterilization Fortnight aims primarily to increase public awareness about family planning services and to enhance maternal and child health in the district. He commended the district health teams for their responsible and committed efforts throughout the campaign. He reaffirmed that sterilization services play a crucial role in strengthening family health and expressed appreciation for the doctors and field staff whose dedication ensured the campaign’s success. He urged the public to embrace family planning options for healthier families with an open mind and expressed confidence that the district will continue to improve its family planning initiatives with sustained dedication and cooperation.District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh emphasized the extensive outreach of health teams, from urban to rural areas, who have educated people about safe and free family planning services. He noted that family planning transcends population control and is directly linked to maternal and child health, economic stability, and social prosperity. He conveyed his gratitude to the surgeon teams, male health workers, and block-level medical officers whose contributions were instrumental to the campaign’s success.The event concluded with a collective commitment to further strengthen family planning services in Hoshiarpur district and to persist in efforts for safeguarding public health.B.E.E.
