He warned that loud explosions can damage hearing, temporarily or permanently. People with respiratory ailments are advised to remain indoors on Diwali as pollution and smoke contaminate the environment. He further highlighted a rise in eye injuries caused by firecrackers and stressed the importance of prevention. Loose or silky garments should be avoided, and children must not attempt to relight unexploded crackers, as they may burst unexpectedly.Dr. Kumar advised that if an eye injury occurs due to firecrackers, one should not rub or touch the affected area and must seek immediate medical attention from an eye specialist. He discouraged home remedies for such injuries, reiterating, “Eyes are precious — why risk your vision through carelessness?”Concluding his address, Dr. Balveer Kumar recommended that people consume home-cooked food, homemade sweets, and fruits during the festival, while avoiding market snacks, alcohol, and intoxicants.
