Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Nov.14 : Under the guidance of Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director, Department of Languages, Government of Punjab, the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with Punjabi Vikas Manch, Haryana, organised a Trilingual Kavi Darbar at the Guru Nanak Educational Trust, Dallewal.Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain graced the occasion as the chief guest. The programme commenced with a welcome note and briefing by District Language Officer Jaspreet Kaur, who outlined the event’s objectives and format.Addressing the gathering, DC Jain appreciated the Punjab Government’s continued efforts to preserve and promote language, culture, and art. She remarked that Punjabi language and culture have achieved recognition both nationally and internationally and urged people to take pride in speaking, reading, and writing in Punjabi.Dr. Jaswant Rai, Research Officer, District Language Office, informed that poets from Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu languages presented their works during the event.Prominent Punjabi poets — Navtej Gardiwala, Raghubir Singh Terekyana, Prof. Malkit Jaura, and Jasbir Singh Dhiman — mesmerised the audience with their powerful recitations. Representing Hindi poetry were Meenakshi Menon, Anju V. Ratti, Principal Timatni Ahluwalia, and Inderjit Chaudhary. From the Urdu literary sphere, Subhash Gupta Shafiq, Vikasdeep Musafir, and Kamal Nayan captivated listeners with their ghazals and nazms.The event also marked the release of the book Lambeh Raston Ka Paandhi, authored by Narinder Kaur and edited by Varinder Nimana. The two-day celebration featured cultural performances by students and a book exhibition organised by the Language Department and various publishers, drawing a strong public response.During the closing session, College Management Committee Chairman Engineer Prabhavjit Singh expressed gratitude to the participants and literature enthusiasts. The event was attended by a host of dignitaries including Principal Dheeraj Sharma, Harmel Singh Khakh (President, Punjabi Vikas Manch, Haryana), Preetpal Singh, Sarabjit Singh Kang, Jaswinder Singh, Jas Saroa, Principal Rupinder Singh, Lecturer Mandeep Kaur Kang, Satnam Singh, Surjit Singh Nurpur, Rajkumar Ghasipuria, Harpal Singh, Prof. Priya, Munish Kumar Bahen, Sandeep Kaur Ahluwalia, Birender Singh, and Lal Singh. Faculty members of Guru Nanak Educational Trust, students, and teachers from various institutions were also present in large numbers.
