Hoshiarpur Leads Punjab in Go-Solar

District records fastest growth rate of 8.8% across all 21 circles

Hoshiarpur/Nov/ 20/Daljeet Ajnoha : Hoshiarpur district has secured the top position in Punjab under the Go-Solar Project, driven by the proactive leadership of Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain. Between September 15 and November 12, the district recorded a remarkable increase in solar adoption applications from 825 to 898 registering the fastest growth rate of 8.8%, the highest among all 21 circles in the state. This milestone reflects strategic planning, strong inter-departmental coordination, and effective execution at all levels.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain’s data-driven governance model, focused micro-monitoring, circle-wise weekly reviews, and quick resolution of procedural gaps played a critical role in accelerating the campaign. Awareness drives were conducted extensively in rural and urban belts, supported by a dedicated on-ground task force deployed to resolve technical challenges and assist applicants.

DC Jain emphasized that this achievement was made possible due to the joint efforts of all departments, with special appreciation for Assistant Commissioner Oishee Mandal, who served as the Nodal Officer for the Go-Solar Project. In her capacity as Nodal Officer, Mandal ensured rigorous field monitoring, seamless coordination among departments, real-time progress tracking, and prompt follow-up with stakeholder teams. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that her committed leadership and hands-on supervision significantly strengthened the project’s overall performance.

The Red Cross Society, under Secretary Mangesh Sood and Joint Secretary Aditya Rana, along with a team of interns, organized extensive awareness camps, educated residents about the solar scheme, assisted in application submission, and amplified outreach through door-to-door and community-level engagement. The Power Corporation officials particularly the XEN of Mukerian facilitated timely technical verifications and provided close support in accelerating installations and approvals.

DC Jain also appreciated the consistent efforts of empanelled vendors, noting that timely installation and smooth consumer support by several vendors contributed to a positive experience for beneficiaries. She affirmed that the collective dedication of departments, teams, interns, field units, and vendors has enabled Hoshiarpur to achieve the number-one position in Punjab.

While Bathinda and Muktsar remain larger circles in terms of absolute application volume, Hoshiarpur’s exceptional growth rate demonstrates that strategic planning, rapid action, and strong community participation can deliver outstanding results—even with a relatively smaller base.

Calling this success a step forward toward sustainable development, Deputy Commissioner Jain expressed confidence that Hoshiarpur’s performance in the Go-Solar Project will serve as a model for other districts across Punjab, strengthening the state’s renewable energy landscape and future energy security.
