Hoshiarpur Municipal Commissioner Urges Citizens

Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu informed that the Local Government Department is encouraging citizens to pay their property tax through various schemes. As part of this initiative, a One-Time Settlement Scheme was introduced, allowing residents to pay their pending property tax without any interest or penalty. Initially valid until July 31, 2025, the scheme’s deadline was extended to August 31, 2025, due to the enthusiastic response from the public.At present, the department is offering an opportunity to deposit the outstanding property tax with 50 percent of the penalty and interest waived, valid until October 31, 2025.The Commissioner stated that several property owners have still not cleared their dues for houses, shops, and other establishments. In response, the Municipal Corporation has launched strict action by issuing notices under Sections 112-A and 138-C. So far, seven notices under each section have been served, and two defaulters have already cleared their dues after receiving them.Commissioner Mattu explained that under the first phase, a 112-A notice grants seven days to pay the tax. If the payment is not made within this period, a 138-C notice is issued, which also provides another seven-day window. Failure to pay even after this notice will result in the concerned property being sealed by the authorities.She further clarified that continuous notices are being sent to all property tax defaulters, and properties will be sealed if the payments are not made within the stipulated time. The Commissioner appealed to all residents to pay their pending property tax dues promptly to avoid any legal action or inconvenience.
