Trekker Gurcharan Singh, who reached Everest Base Camp, was felicitated by the Hoshiarpur Photographers Association upon his return to Hoshiarpur. On this occasion, Sanjeev Arora said that Gurcharan Singh had hoisted the flag at the base camp, bringing glory to Hoshiarpur.
In an interaction, trekker Gurcharan Singh shared that on March 25, he began the trek to Everest Base Camp from Lukla, Nepal, along with his companions—senior trekker Hardeep Johar from Tanda and Talwinder Singh from Chandigarh. Facing numerous challenges, they passed through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep. On the sixth day, they arrived at the 5,364-metre-high Everest Base Camp, where they hoisted the Tricolour and celebrated the feat. After spending half an hour at the base camp, they began their descent and reached Lukla on the third day, completing the round trip.
Gurcharan Singh said it had been his long-cherished dream to unfurl the Tricolour at Everest Base Camp, and now it had come true. Despite heavy snowfall and treacherous paths, he successfully completed the nine-day trek with the support of his experienced companions Hardeep Johar and Talwinder Singh—a journey that typically takes 10 to 12 days.
The trekker expressed his ambition to conquer even higher peaks in the future. Those present on the occasion included Harjap Singh, Naresh Kumar Saba, Karmbir Singh, Anil Kumar, and Harjinder Kumar.
