MLA holds important meeting with administrative officials, langar committees, and social organizations
– Instructs PWD and Municipal Corporation to immediately repair potholes on roads leading to Mata Chintpurni
– Appeals to langar committees to take responsible steps to ensure smooth arrangements
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/ July 24 :To ensure smooth preparations for the upcoming Mata Chintpurni Mela, which begins in July, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa held a meeting today at the District Administrative Complex with administrative officials, langar committees, and representatives of social organizations. He was joined by Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, and Mayor Surinder Kumar.
Addressing the meeting, Jimpa issued directives to all departments to ensure the arrangements for the fair are seamless. He stressed that without the cooperation of langar committees and social organizations, the management of the fair cannot be handled effectively. Their involvement is essential for the success of the event.
Jimpa praised the district administration for its commendable efforts in promoting a plastic-free environment by ensuring that langars do not use single-use plastic. He announced that in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation and Pollution Control Board, the administration will distribute around ₹5 lakh worth of eco-friendly plates, glasses, and spoons to langar committees still using single-use plastic unknowingly.
He also urged all langar organizers not to use single-use plastic and to maintain cleanliness during the mela to protect the environment. He appealed to committees not to serve langar on the roadside, as this disrupts traffic flow. He instructed officials of the PWD and Municipal Corporation to immediately repair potholes on the roads leading to Mata Chintpurni to avoid inconvenience for devotees.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain appealed to langar committees to submit formal applications to the SDM office for setting up langars and using loudspeakers, so that the administration can be aware of each committee’s location. This would help in addressing any traffic or emergency issues efficiently through direct coordination.
She also requested devotees not to travel in heavy goods vehicles, as these cause obstruction.
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that langar committees must cooperate with the police to manage traffic. He assured that district police officers and personnel will be deployed round the clock on Chintpurni Road to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and safety of devotees.
Mayor Surinder Kumar added that the Municipal Corporation will ensure no compromise in sanitation arrangements. Fire brigade services will also be available, and all potholes on roads under the Corporation’s jurisdiction will be filled promptly.
Also present at the meeting were ADC (Development) Nikas Kumar, ADC (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner Oaishi Mandal, SP Dr. Mukesh Kumar, SP Navneet Kaur Gill, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, RTO Amandeep Kaur Ghumman, DSP Palwinder Singh, and Joint Commissioner Sandeep Tiwari, along with several representatives of langar committees and social organizations including Krishan Gopal Anand, Bharat Bhushan Verma, Anit Nayyar, Mandeep Sharma, Pramod Sharma, Ashwani Sharma, and others from various departments and community bodies.
